Skopje: New industries
on old locations
The architectural exhibition "Skopje: new industries on old locations" is the result of a one-year scientific research project aimed at mapping, studying, evaluating and promoting the abandoned industrial space, as an opportunity for future economic, spatial and program development of the city of Skopje. The project investigates and presents the process of re-industrialization in the city of Skopje, which, although has a positive role in the regeneration and rational use of urban space, takes place in the shadow of the processes of deindustrialization and conversion of industrial sites for other non-industrial uses that have a much more visible impact of the space. The goal of the project is to affirm the approach of rebuilding and reusing these locations for new production non-polluting industries, in addition to the public good and for the benefit of the residents of the city of Skopje.
Participants in the research project are: prof. Goran Mickovski, head of the project, prof. Ana Ivanovska Deskova, prof. Jovan Ivanovski, assistant Dimitar Krsteski, assistant Tea Damjanovska, assistant Mihajlo Stojanovski and Mila Gavrilovska. The scientific research project is financed by the University "Ss. Cyril and Methodius" in Skopje, implemented by the Faculty of Architecture.
